Hi, and welcome to my journal. I'm trying to start my own amtgarding group in mid-western Ohio, specifically the Piqua/Troy area (I'm in the city to the west of those, but I can't say which one. I don't like to give out my location on the internet. Let's just say where I live, it's so small you could probably find me by asing anyone. Yes, the town is that small. Heh.
Amtgard is a live-action roleplaying game in case you didn't know what it is, which uses completely safe, padded weapons made of primarily soft foam. I say primarily because the only part that isn't foam is most likelyt cardboard or pvc (plastic piping, in the case of some shields and swords). It's a lot of fun, and leies on the concept of 'tapping' an opponent to take away armor points, and eventually take one's opponent out of the game.
Well, that's the really *really* short version of it, anyway. Eheh. There are several classes and types of character one can play, and it's quite varied in it's characters and storylines.

I started out in amtgard when I was about 16 or 17, and I've tried to remain in it, despite the lack of groups in my area. The first group I was a member of was the Shire of the Iron Dragon Clan in Belfountaine, Ohio (I think they've since changed their name, and are now a barony.) in the kingdom of the Rising Winds
Later, I joined the Shire of Griffin's Ridge in Huber Heights, Ohio in about 2004/2005. (also of Rising Winds). Unfortunately, because of construction to the bridge on one side of the park and winter approaching, the group stopped meeting there. I moved a few months after that, and I haven't been able to find a nearby group.
I did have my own (albeit unapproved and unfortunately unrecorded for attendance) group after Griffin's Ridge stopped meeting at the park. Though after I moved, we stopped getting together. I don't have a driver's liscence or a car, so it's kind of hard to get around, which is why I'm trying to get a group together in my town. I don't have a job, so I have a lot of spare time on my hands. I'm workign on getting a site design and programming business together, but so far it hasn't panned out.

Anyway, I just wanted to say this is my page, ramblings of a....hmm. Well, I'm sure I'll come up with something.

I also wanted to add that I have tried to register my group before, but I never got a response, and you may have heard of it under the name "Shire of the Onyx Arrow", "Ethyria", or "the Shire of the Sokra Storm" (Sokra storm was my own little larp group)

I'm going to go with Ethyria for a name, and stick with it.
This is my journal, my musings, and my creative projects. I have experience as a garber, weaponsmith (foam-swords, mostly), and I put together outfits for my husband, myself, and our group of friends for the Rennisance festival, which we attend every year.

My main characters are a barbarian guy (Vanthien Chronos) and a warrior class lady named Destany. (I'm considering changing her name, she's really boring anyway.)
